A total of 533 historic race cars have been initially accepted for this year&#8217;s event, with the option of up to 17 additional cars to complete the field.<\/p>\n<p>The Chevrolet Corvette is the <a title=\"Corvette Featured at 2013 Monterey Motorsports Reunion\" href=\"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/corvette-featured-at-monterey-motorsports-reunion-2013\/\">featured marque<\/a> and the Chevrolet Motor Division will celebrate the marque\u2019s 60th anniversary and 50th anniversary of the Corvette Grand Sport.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 58 authentic and race-proven Corvettes that have been accepted, highlighted by three Corvette Grand Sports, of which only five were ever constructed under the watchful eye of Zora Arkus-Duntov.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has become an extremely challenging task for our Governing Committee to select a maximum of 550 cars from nearly 800 entry requests, but the committee has done a remarkable job,\u201d said Gill Campbell, CEO and General Manager of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. \u201cThe quality of the cars and the way their owners prepare and present them will assuredly delight guests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat a joyous moment it is to get the notification that my car and I have been accepted to the event,\u201d said Pen Pendelton of Los Angeles, California, who will be driving a 1961 Alsbury Special. \u201cIt is really an honor to be a part of something so special.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will grid historic race cars from nearly every era, dating as far back as a 1911 National 40 to a more modern-day 1992 Mazda RX-7 92P. All the famous names will be represented, including Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, McLaren, Aston Martin, Porsche, Bugatti, Talbot-Lago, Alfa Romeo, Ford and Chevrolet.<\/p>\n<p>The cars, which were selected for their historical significance, authenticity and period-correctness, are divided into 16 classes, based on type of car, displacement and era of origin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion &#8211; Race Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-1940 Sports Racing and Touring Cars<\/li>\n<li>1927-1951 Racing Cars<\/li>\n<li>1955-1962 GT Cars<\/li>\n<li>1960-1968 Sports Racing USRRC Cars<\/li>\n<li>1973-1989 FIA, IMSA GT, GTX AAGT, GTU, GTP Cars<\/li>\n<li>1963-1966 GT Cars over 2500cc<\/li>\n<li>1966-1984 Formula 1<\/li>\n<li>1966-1972 Trans-Am<\/li>\n<li>1955-1961 Sports Racing Cars under 2000cc<\/li>\n<li>1958-1963 Formula Junior Cars<\/li>\n<li>1955-1961 Sports Racing Cars over 2000cc<\/li>\n<li>1970-1979 Sports Racing cars under 2000cc<\/li>\n<li>1947-1955 Sports Racing and GT Cars<\/li>\n<li>1981-1989 FIA Mfg. Championship, IMSA GTP\/1982-1992 GTO<\/li>\n<li>1961-1966 GT Cars under 2500cc<\/li>\n<li>1964-1973 Weissach Cup<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Adding to the overall activities will be the heritage display of significant Corvettes that is presented by Chevrolet. These rare Corvette race cars will be showcased to represent every era, up to the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray.<\/p>\n<p>Advance tickets to the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion 2013 are available, with General Admission tickets beginning at $50 (Friday) and a three-day ticket at $130, which includes a complimentary souvenir magazine.
