George Waltman, an MG enthusiast who first began racing his TC in the late 1940s, and later also competed in an MGA, Triumph TR4 and a Morgan Plus Four, has died at the age of 87. Waltman served as a B29 bomber pilot in the Pacific Theater of WWII, and later became an engineer with British Leyland. Based in Pennsylvania, he was a fixture at racing circuits throughout the Southeast USA, as well as taking part in the Bahamas Speed Week, where he was once presented with a beautiful silver cup and a $600 check by Lady Oakes herself. In 1963, he finished the 12 Hours of Sebring solo in his TR4, and topped that in \u201968 when he finished the 24 Hours of Daytona in the Morgan without co-driver or pit crew.
