One of the stars taking the green at this year\u2019s Greenwich Concours, June 1-2, will be a very rare Ghia-bodied 1955 Jaguar XK140MC, one of just three built. With a flowing, hand-made aluminum body by Italian carrozzeria Ghia, the sleek coupe is substantially lighter than a stock XK 140. The dashboard and instrument panel\u2014with Smiths gauges\u2014are also specially fabricated in aluminum. The greenhouse has slender roof pillars and greater glass area for a bright and airy interior. The rear shelf behind the car’s two seats is hinged for additional storage.<\/p>\n

Under the hood, the MC suffix signifies the 3442-cc, twin-cam, inline six-cylinder Jaguar engine was upgraded with a C-Type cylinder head that added 20 hp, for a total of 210 hp. Its first owners were the Hollywood musical stars Marge and Gower Champion, who later sold it to fellow actor Ricardo Montalban.
