The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) has announced that the inaugural United States Vintage Racing National Championship will be held\u00a0 Oct. 25-27, 2013, at the home of the Formula One World Championship United States Grand Prix, the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n
According to both COTA and SVRA, entries are coming in quickly for hundreds of historically significant vintage racing cars from the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. The first U.S. Vintage Racing National Championship will be run on the full 3.4-mile Grand Prix circuit and feature approximately 500 vintage racecars that will compete in 12 classes, each of which will crown a national champion.<\/p>\n
Qualifying sessions will take place on Friday Oct. 25 and Saturday Oct. 26, with racing set for both Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cVintage racing is gaining popularity with motorsports fans,\u201d commented COTA Executive Vice President Bruce Knox, \u201cwe look forward to hosting vintage race fans from around the world during the inaugural U.S. Vintage National Championship. Spectators will see some of the top historic racecars in the world, including the Maserati 250F that was piloted by two racing legends, Sir Stirling Moss and Juan Manual Fangio.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the on-track action, there will be an open paddock all three days of the event, plus a car show and vendor display in the Circuit\u2019s Grand Plaza.
