The Madgwick Cup race at the 2013 Goodwood Revival was held Saturday, September 14th at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in West Sussex, England.<\/p>\n

Tony Wood won an action-packed Madgwick Cup race for 1948 to 1955 sports racing cars with less than 2.0-litres displacement.The Lister-Bristol regular lost out from pole as Alta man Gareth Burnett and Cooper-Bristol T22\/25 driver Adrian van der Kroft jumped him on the run to St Mary\u2019s. Wood claimed second place at the kink before St Mary\u2019s on the second tour and proceeded to chase down van der Kroft.<\/p>\n

Wood asserted himself at Fordwater ten minutes into the 25-minute race, only for van der Kroft to take back the place mere seconds later. Burnett was by now ten seconds behind the lead duo. It looked increasingly like van der Kroft was going to hold on for the win, despite a moment at the chicane when he went onto the grass in avoidance of a Lester-MG.<\/p>\n

However, it all went horribly wrong with just four minutes left to run: the Dutchman put a lap down on Simon Diffey\u2019s Lotus at the kink before St Mary\u2019s, only to rotate the car on the exit. Diffey took avoiding action, but the Cooper impacted with the Lotus. An elated Wood took the victory, with Burnett in second place.<\/p>\n
