The 1964 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe owned by the Larry H. Miller family in Utah topped a field of more than 200 winning vehicles and received \u201cBest of Show\u201d honors at the 11th annual The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering\u2019s Rolex Circle of Champions held August 16, 2013.<\/p>\n

Notable attendees included entertainment celebrities Jay Leno, Patrick Dempsey and Adam Carolla, while automotive celebrities included FIA president Jean Todt and seven-time Formula One World Champion, Michael Schumacher (below), who spoke during one of the Fireside Chats. Schumacher\u2019s surprise appearance captivated attendees as he provided an intimate look into his legendary racing career and opened the chat up to a Q&A portion from the audience.<\/p>\n

Winner of the Rolex Circle of Champions \u201cBest of Show,\u201d the CSX 2299, is the second coupe produced and the first built with bodywork by Carrozzeria Grandsport, the well-known Italian coachbuilder.\u00a0It competed in nine FIA races. Besides a GT-class win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a victory in the Goodwood Tourist Trophy race with Dan Gurney in 1964, the car also won its class in the Daytona 2000km and the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1965.<\/p>\n

The event also featured 100 Years of Aston Martin, A Retrospective of Automobili Lamborghini\u2013Celebrating 50 Years and Peter Brock Designs, among a collection of more than 200 of the world\u2019s finest automobiles and motorcycles. Additionally, A Tribute to the California Mille In Honor of Martin Swig commemorated California\u2019s homage to Italy\u2019s historic Mille Miglia and its legendary founder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
