The 2013 Mecum Daytime Auction held during August\u2019s Monterey Car Week, saw more than 700 collector cars\u201450 of which were Porsches\u2014cross the auction block for a grand total of over $31 million in sales.<\/p>\n

Top lot of the multi-day sale went to a 1955 Porsche 550\/1500 RS Spyder, which sold for an impressive $3.75 million, making it the most valuable 550 ever sold at auction. The second spot in Mecum\u2019s top-10 list was claimed by yet another racecar, the Gulf-sponsored 1961 Chevrolet Corvette, which sold for $1.4 million, while a one-owner, 500 original-mile 1990 Ferrari F40 sold for $1,325,000 to claim the third highest lot of the auction.<\/p>\n
