Noted collector Peter Mullin and his wife Merle have made a major donation of $15 million to Pasadena, California\u2019s Art Center College of Design. The donation will enhance and support the college\u2019s famed industrial and transportation design programs, which have consistently turned out a steady stream of the world\u2019s top automotive designers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u201cI\u2019ve been talking about it for a year or so, but I have been following Art Center for years,\u201d said Mr. Mullin, who in addition to being founder of his eponymous Mulllin Automotive Museum in Oxnard, California is also chairman of the Petersen Automotive Museum. \u201cIt is to design what Caltech is to engineering.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesman for the Art Center stated, \u201cThe Mullins\u2019 timely gift will create strategically important new space for the college\u2019s undergraduate programs in environmental, product and transportation design, enabling students and faculty to create and simulate the scale and quantity of projects that will be demanded over the coming decades.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
