James Hunt on the Grid Artwork<\/h2>\n

Tom Havlasek was born in Brno, Czech Republic, and since childhood has enjoyed motorsport, keeping in close contact with it via the well-known Brno Circuit near his home. After graduating from secondary school specializing in computer graphic design, however, he began presenting his works of art, mostly street art paintings or legal graffiti renderings. With the passage of time, looking to move beyond street paintings, he grew fond of using canvas and water-based colors. Portraits became his favorite theme, especially those of drivers from the \u201cgolden age\u201d of motorsport.<\/p>\n

This work, titled \u201cJames Hunt on the Grid\u201d is typical of his recent work, painted with acrylic colors on his favorite canvas size, 95 x 95 cm, almost without use of brushes, as nearly everything has been painted by palette-knife. Working from his own or others\u2019 photographs, he chooses the best part of the image and creates the right composition first on a computer screen, then transfers the motive to the canvas. His style emphasizes splashes, drops and blurs everywhere, with no clear shades (shadows), and no detail work anywhere as he tries to connect the abstract with the concrete, yet always keeping the topic clear and immediately recognizable.
