A selection of Porsches will be among the headline offerings at the Mecum Kissimmee 2015 auction, scheduled for January 16-25 at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida. Similar to previous years, Mecum’s 2015 Florida sale will offer a group of desirable Porsche road cars for bidders to enjoy.<\/p>\n

With their Kissimmee sale, Mecum’s focus is on American iron, but the auction house has done an admirable job broadening their list of consignments and appeal to collectors that might be after something of the European variety.<\/p>\n

For the 2015 event Mecum will have Porsche cars ranging from the stark 356 models to the sophisticated, twin-turbocharged sports cars of the 21st century. Porsche enthusiasts will have more than a few attractive options, including the following sporting machinery that will be among the offerings at the 3,000+ Mecum Kissimmee 2015 sale.<\/p>\n

The 911 will always be the car that comes to mind when folks remember Porsche, and to the informed enthusiasts the Early 911 models (1965-1973) will likely always be some of the most treasured of their normal production road cars. This 1971 Porsche 911S Coupe, Lot# S163<\/a>, is a fuel-injected, 2.2L 911S that received a two-year, bare-metal restoration performed by former Brumos Porsche racing crew chief, Paul Willison. Described as original sheet metal, its new Yellow paint and Black leatherette interior are original per the supplied Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (Est. $200,000 – $250,000).<\/p>\n

Lot# T248<\/a> is one of 408 Porsche 911 SC Weissach Edition models produced in 1980. \u00a0Sold with only two color combinations, these car were\u00a0advertised as a bargain at roughly $32,000, given the amount of options these special-edition 911s were equipped with as standard. This example wears a mere 9,494 miles and has multiple awards to its name (Est. $40,000 – $60,000).<\/p>\n

Open 356 models<\/strong><\/p>\n

Topless 356 variants continue to enjoy attention from buyers after an enjoyable and tactile experience that is perfect for any occasion.<\/p>\n

Lot# S205<\/a> is a 1960 356B Roadster, but that\u2019s not even its full name, as you have to attach ‘Drauz’ in there as well. After Porsche killed off their popular Speedster model, these minimalistic Roadsters attempted to mimic some of the qualities of the Speedster it succeeded. With its bodywork carried out through the Drauz coachbuilder, this example has enjoyed a color change during its lifetime, but still uses the original, 75hp 1600 cc engine that it was equipped with at new (Est. $150,000 – $180,000).<\/p>\n

Lot# S148<\/a> is described as a matching-numbers example of a 1961 356B Convertible. The 356B marked a big change in the 356 characteristics in attempt to civilize the rather spartan, 356 models. This car is described to have a rust-free body and is accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity to help verify its original status (Est. $175,000 – $200,000).<\/p>\n

Porsche 911 Turbos<\/strong><\/p>\n

With strong appreciation in recent years, Porsche’s 911 Turbos, especially the early air-cooled models, have enjoyed some big selling prices. Mecum looks to appeal to these buyers with several attractive 930 and 993 offerings.<\/p>\n

Dressed in Sienna Brown Metallic, Lot# S199<\/a>, a 1978 (930) 911 Turbo Coupe appears to have made it through several decades without being heavily modified as many of these cars were. Showing only 25,260 miles, this example is fitted with great equipment, such as sport seats, limited-slip differential and full leather upholstery (Est. $125,000 – $150,000).<\/p>\n

Lot# F249<\/a> represents the opposite extreme. Sold new as a 1986 911 Turbo in handsome Prussian Blue Metallic on Blue leather, this Turbo was first gifted with the \u201cSlantnose\u201d treatment from Porsche Sonderwunsch, or \u201cSpecial Wishes\u201d Department. Following this, this 930 was sent to a Ruf-authorized dealer and fitted with a weapons-grade \u201cBTR\u201d 3.4L engine package and their own 5-speed transmission that was designed to put up with its new power. It shows only 28,500 miles today and screams 1980s (Est. $100,000 – $125,000).<\/p>\n

Wearing its ageless Grand Prix White exterior color, Lot# F250<\/a>, a 1987 911 Turbo Coupe, is a much more subtle effect for the wide-bodied, force-induced 911. This example has enjoyed a single families\u2019 use since new, and is described to only have 39,800 miles today (Est. $100,000 – $125,000).<\/p>\n

Fast-forward several years, and a couple generations and you have Lot# S156<\/a>, a 1997 911 Turbo that\u2019s been breathed on by Ruf Automobile. With modern fuel injection, twin-plug ignition, twin-turbochargers, all-wheel drive, the \u201c993 Turbo\u201d is a much different creature than the original 911 Turbo. With more modifications than we have time to explain, this Ruf Turbo R, or \u201cEl Tiburon\u201d as it was affectionately named, is a different animal altogether. The end result is a 500 hp super 911 only showing 19,600 miles. It’s accompanied by extensive documentation and images of the car during its work at the Ruf workshop in Germany (Est. $300,000 – $350,000).<\/p>\n
