Bonhams announced a selection of early consignments for its annual Monterey Classic Car Week motorcar auction, scheduled for August 13-14, 2015 on the grounds of the Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley, California. Following last year\u2019s results of $108 million, including setting the record for the most valuable car ever sold at auction, this year’s line-up will feature among others a 1948 Aston Martin 2-Liter Works Team Car, 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic, 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 and 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort Coupe.<\/p>\n

As the first post-war Aston Martin built under new owner David Brown, this one-off 1948 Aston Martin 2-Liter Works Team Car was the London Motor Show car and it later won the 24 Hours of Spa.Not only did the works team car win the 1948 Spa race with Jock Horsfall but it was then driven back from Belgium to England where it was rebodied for display at the London Motor Show a few months later. Fully restored and documented, the Aston Martin was shown at the Villa d’Este Concours in 2013.<\/p>\n

The 1953 Fiat 8V Supersonic with coachwork by Ghia is one of 15 created. It was designed by Giovanni Santovuzzi who was responsible for the Cisitalia 202 and incorporates the Otto Vu engine. This matching-numbers Supersonic was sold new to American custom car builder and racer Lou Fageol and has been in the same ownership for over four decades. Benefitting from a recent professional restoration, the car is finished in its original color combination.<\/p>\n

A pair of supercars will also be featured at the Bonhams Quail Lodge 2015 auction. The 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 offered is reported to be an “extremely original” example that has been in single ownership for nearly four decades. The 1987 Porsche 959 Komfort Coupe, from the collection of Tony Hart, was bought new by Ferrari collector Yoshiho Matsuda of Japan. Imported into the United States by Canepa Design \u2013 who undertook major federalizing to make it DOT-compliant \u2013 this example boasts the all-black leather interior and has 4700 original miles.<\/p>\n
