Eglinton competed in Formula Junior\u2014winning at Tucson in 1963 with a Lotus-Ford\u2014as well as Formula B and Formula 5000, driving cars he designed while design chief of Red LeGrand\u2019s LeGrand Racecars during the 1960s. After suffering severe burns in a testing accident when his throttle stuck open in 1968, Egliton battled back valiantly and returned to racing in 1971, contesting five races of the L&amp;M Continental Championship for Formula 5000 driving a Lotus 70.
