{"id":494777,"date":"2015-09-09T12:17:20","date_gmt":"2015-09-09T19:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=17167"},"modified":"2024-03-17T22:32:23","modified_gmt":"2024-03-17T22:32:23","slug":"jaguar-heritage-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/jaguar-heritage-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaguar Heritage Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The inaugural season of the Jaguar Heritage Challenge came to a close at Oulton Park September 1 with Mike Wilkinson and John Bussell driving their E-Type \u2014 formerly owned by three-time F1 World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart \u2014 to victory.<\/p>\n<p>Wilkinson and Bussell started \u201cSSN 300\u201d (above) from the second row of the grid and worked hard to keep pace with the leading pack, taking over the top spot on Lap 13 when early leader Martin O\u2019Connell hit mechanical trouble. They then proceeded to establish a commanding lead, which Bussell nearly threw away by running wide on the final lap before recovering to be first under the checker. Peter Castaldini finished 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, with the pairing of Robert Gate and Dave Coyne taking 3<sup>rd<\/sup>, both in race-prepared E-Types.<\/p>\n<p>Taking Class C honors was RAC Motoring Committee chairman Ben Cussons in his C-Type \u201cPUG 676.\u201d Other class winners from the season finale were: Jim Tester in his XK120 (A1), Chris Keith-Lucas driving an XK150 (A), Andy Wallace in a Mk1 (B) and John Burton in his E-Type (D).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has been a great season of Jaguar Heritage racing,\u201d said Lorraine Toolan, Global Head of Marketing for Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, \u201cThe support from our drivers has been amazing, too.
