A record, sellout crowd of 149,000 poured into the Goodwood Circuit, near Chichester in West Sussex, England, last weekend for the 18th<\/sup> renewal of the Goodwood Revival. Dressed in period costumes, they were treated to three days filled with automotive delights, including a historic assembly of all six original Cobra Daytona Coupes in the same place at the same time to mark the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of the marque\u2019s victory in the 1965 FIA Manufacturers Championship.<\/p>\n

Bruce McLaren Tribute.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Big name international drivers on hand included multiple Le Mans winners Tom Kristensen (9), Derek Bell (5) and Emauele Pirro (5), as well as 1974 Can-Am champion Jackie Oliver. The career of Bruce McLaren, the brilliant New Zealander who excelled as a driver, team manager and constructor of winning cars for multiple categories, was honored with a lapping session for cars relevant to that career. Another tribute marked the 75th<\/sup> anniversary of the Battle of Britain with a stunning low-level fly-by of a dozen Spitfires.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s RAC TT Celebration race for early \u201960s GT cars was won by former BTCC champ Gordon Shedden and Chris Ward, who shared a Jaguar E-Type prepared by JD Classics, while nine-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen drove a muscular Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt to victory in Saturday\u2019s hectic St. Mary\u2019s Trophy race for 1960s sedans (above) and the Lavant Cup race for drum-braked Ferrari sports prototypes of the 1950s was won by James Cottingham\u2019s 1957 500 TRC. Event creator Lord March summarized the festivities: \u201cThe 18th<\/sup> Goodwood Revival drew a record sell-out crowd, who not only witnessed some of the most iconic racing cars ever built dicing wheel-to-wheel, but also celebrated the career of motor racing legend Bruce McLaren, saw \u2014 for the first time in history \u2014 all six original Shelby Daytona Coupes together on track and joined an incredibly poignant and fitting tribute to the bravery of all those who fought in the Battle of Britain. My sincere thanks to everyone who came for their support and enthusiasm for the event, which continues to be cherished by enthusiasts of motor racing and vintage culture across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
