It had previously been awarded Best in Class at Pebble Beach in 2014. The Mercedes was the winner of the popular vote by attendees at the show.<\/p>\n<p>At the close of the day, the Paul Doerring Founders Award, honoring one of the event\u2019s key contributing founders, was presented to the 1957 Ghia Dual-Ghia Convertible owned by David and Doreen Salzman of Jupiter, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The annual South Carolina gathering of collectors and enthusiasts is one of the fastest growing automotive lifestyle events in the country, and continues to expand its reach, doing so again with this year\u2019s all-new new aviation event, the Flights &amp; Fancy Gala and Aero Expo.<\/p>\n<p>Joining this year\u2019s festivities for the first time was Auctions America\u2019s collector car sale, held at the Westin Hilton Head Island Resort &amp; Spa last Saturday. Nearly 100 blue-chip automobiles and select memorabilia were presented before a packed house, and preliminary results from the auction showed it exceeding $5 million in sales. Top seller was a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC that sold for $638,000.
