Formula Junior Historics North America has announced an eight-race slate of events for 2016 with support from Bonhams, Passport Transport and Deutsche Bank USA. Formula Junior served as a training ground for Grand Prix drivers from 1958 through 1963, with light and maneuverable cars powered by 1100cc engines and running on narrow tires.<\/p>\n
“It’s all about enjoying these cars and having fun,” explained FJHNA president Nick Grewal. “We started this organization three years ago to establish exclusive grids of Formula Juniors at selected events, so that all the cars in the field handle and behave similarly. Camaraderie is a big part of it.”<\/p>\n
The 2016 U.S. Formula Junior season will begin February 26-28 with the CVAR Spring Races at Texas World Speedway, then move to Alabama for the May 20-22 HMSA Barber Historics at Barber Motorsports Park. On June 23-25 the VSCCA\/VRG Vintage Motorsports Festival will take place at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, a rejuvenated historic track in northeastern Connecticut.<\/p>\n
Next comes the July 9-10 PVGP Historics at the newly renovated Pitt Race, followed immediately by the July 16-17 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix street race in Schenley Park. The first VSCCA\/VRG Whiskey Hill Classic will go July 29-31 at the new Palmer Motorsports Park in Massachusetts, before the series moves to California for the August 13-14 Rolex Pre-Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.<\/p>\n
The VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival at Road America will host the annual FJHNA Bonhams Championship Race on September 16-18, with the series finale taking place as part of the November 2-6 SVRA event at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n
