Masters Historic Racing has announced that it will launch a series of three-hour mini-enduros intended to build on the success of its Donington four-hour race for pre-1966 GT and touring cars last July.<\/p>\n
Open to GT, GTP and Touring Cars built before 1966, the new Masters Three Hours series will feature three races in 2016, on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on May 28-29, on the Donington Park GP circuit on July 2-3 and in the Spanish sunshine at Jarama, a new venue for Masters, on October 15-16.<\/p>\n
Additionally, there will be two previously announced Masters-only enduros in the Florida sunshine at HSR-run historic events in Daytona and Sebring. The burgeoning Daytona Historics weekend will feature a Masters enduro on November 10-13, before the series moves to Sebring International Raceway for the season\u2019s final race on December 1-4. The decision to race in North America as well as Europe should attract a wide variety of cars to what promises to be a popular new initiative in historic racing. Pit stops, driver changes and refueling will add to the excitement of these events.<\/p>\n
Jo Seymour, Masters Historic Racing\u2019s U.S. Event Manager, said: \u201cOur pilot race at Donington last year proved the popularity of long-distance racing for historic cars. We know that drivers want as much track time as we can offer them; we know which circuits are popular and have good facilities. We have tried to combine all these elements where possible to create this new series.
