{"id":495218,"date":"2016-02-03T12:10:43","date_gmt":"2016-02-03T20:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=25677"},"modified":"2024-03-01T05:44:41","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T05:44:41","slug":"25677-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/25677-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorsports Hall of Fame Inducts Seven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Motorsports Hall of Fame of America (MSHFA) has announced its 28<sup>th<\/sup> class of inductees, continuing a long-standing tradition of honoring legendary figures from a broad range of racing disciplines.\u2028 The seven-person class of 2016 includes: motorcycle star Everett Brashear; NASCAR champion car owner Richard Childress; former land speed record holder Gary Gabelich; multi-champion car owner Chip Ganassi; legendary NHRA announcer Dave McClelland; all-rounder Sam Posey; and Indy 500 winner Bob Sweikert. They will be enshrined at the 28<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Induction Ceremony presented by Bridgestone on the evening of June 29 at Daytona International Speedway, the Hall\u2019s new home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving our induction ceremony for the first time at \u2018The World Center of Racing\u2019 is going to showcase this year\u2019s inductees \u2014 and all of our past inductees \u2014 in a manner befitting their accomplishments,\u201d said MSHFA President Ron Watson.\u2028 \u2028\u201cAs always, our inductee list reflects the breadth of racing achievement in this country. This year\u2019s class demonstrates our continuing efforts to recognize variety in motorsports, an approach which respectively distinguishes us from other racing halls of fame.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ganassi, whose teams represent that diversity, having produced championships and milestone victories in Indycars, sports cars and stock cars, commented: \u2028\u2028&#8221;I&#8217;m truly grateful and honored to be part of the 2016 Motorsports Hall of Fame of America class of inductees. Many of the hall&#8217;s inductees are my heroes.
