The Argentine Temporada Motor Races \u2013 1950 to 1960<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/i>Originally organized as a way to prove that Argentina was capable of hosting a round of the Formula One World Championship, the Temporada series achieved that goal when the first FIA Formula One World Championship Grand Prix ever to be held outside of Europe (not counting the Indy 500) took place on January 18, 1953, the opening round of that year\u2019s championship.<\/p>\n

Beginning in 1950, with a Prologue to include prior races, this book tells the tale of the Temporada contests with season-by-season summaries using minimal text to accompany the many illuminative photographs. That inaugural 1950 season was comprised of four races, all won by Ferrari 125s, two by Alberto Ascari and two by Luigi Villoresi. In subsequent years that number varied, with a World Sports Car Championship round added in 1954, and from \u201955 through \u201959 they staged grand festivals of speed on three consecutive weekends, with the F1 GP one weekend, the WSCC round the next and the non-championship Grand Prix of Buenos Aires on the third. That happened also in 1960, but the order was changed.<\/p>\n
