Barrett-Jackson\u2019s 14th<\/sup> annual Palm Beach Auction is happening this weekend, April 8-10, at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach. This year\u2019s event is, like last year, featuring a Supercar Showcase with a selection of more than a dozen of these exceptional vehicles. In the spotlight will be a selection of Ferraris, some Porsches (including two Carrera GTs), two Lamborghinis, a rare low-mileage Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (above) and two impressive Ford GT Heritage Editions \u2014 one of which has less than five actual miles on the clock \u2014 and a 1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am.<\/p>\n

Among the other notable cars coming up for bid is a Nightmist Blue 1967 Mustang GT<\/a> offered at No Reserve. Originally an S-code 390 car, this custom fastback incorporates leading-edge updates while still retaining its original look and feel. Under the hood, however, the Roush 402 IR V8 engine initially appears to be topped by multiple Weber carburetors, but is actually fed by computer-controlled fuel injection with eight individual throttle bodies. The car has been garaged and driven fewer than 3,500 miles since its professional resto-build.<\/p>\n

Also featured will be the sale of the first retail production 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Collector\u2019s Edition<\/a> (VIN #001), which will be auctioned Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. EDT with 100 percent of the sale price benefiting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute<\/a>. The auction extends General Motors\u2019 long-standing support of the Karmanos Cancer Institute, one of only 45 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. The Corvette is one of eight cars being sold to benefit charities at this year\u2019s auction.<\/p>\n

Finally, while it may not be going boldly where no one has gone before, a pair of cars owned by Star Trek<\/em>\u2019s Captain Kirk, William Shatner, will also be offered for sale. One is a 2002 Aston Martin DB7 Volante, while the other is a 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton with a six-liter, 420-horsepower 12-cylinder engine. Both are billed as low-mileage examples, and will be autographed for the buyer by Shatner at the auction.
