The HMSA LSR Invitational 2016 was staged March 28 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The one-day Historic Motor Sports Association (HMSA) event saw a selection of historic racing cars challenge the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course in Salinas, California.<\/p>\n

The glorious sounds from a Ferrari V-12, Chevrolet V-8 and a flat-six Porsche were among those echoing off the hills around Laguna Seca at full song. HMSA’s annual LSR Invitational once again attracted some amazing cars, such a Ferrari 250P; Maserati 250F; Lancia LC2; Shadow DN4 Can-Am; McLaren M8FP Can-Am and Porsche 911 Carrera RSR; among others. <\/p>\n

This testing session served as a tune-up for the upcoming two-day HMSA Spring Club Event, scheduled for April 9-10 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Drivers enjoyed four 20-minute sessions and a catered lunch where the bench racing was almost as good as what was happening on track.<\/p>\n

\nSimilar to 2010<\/a>, 2011<\/a>, 2012<\/a>, 2013<\/a>, 2014<\/a> and 2015<\/a>, Sports Car Digest also documented the 2016 running of the HMSA LSR Invitational, with Senior Photographer Dennis Gray offering the following images highlighting the quality participants at this year’s March event. We split up Dennis’ pictures into two galleries.
