The Peter Collins Trophy at the 2016 Goodwood Members Meeting was held March 19-20 at the 2.4-mile Goodwood Motor Circuit in England. This race honoured one of the great motor racing eras when Aston Martin, Jaguar, Maserati and Ferrari all entered seminal speedsters into battle for endurance glory in the 1950s.<\/p>\n

The Peter Collins Trophy at the 74th Members’ Meeting reminded us of the kind of quality of racing that the coming together of these exceptional period machines can result in.<\/p>\n

The diverse grid of drum-braked sports cars tearing around Goodwood included the Alfa Romeo 3000 ‘Disco Volante’; Allard J2X; Aston Martin DB3 and DB3S; Cunningham C4R; Ferrari 375 MM Spider; Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica; Jaguar C-Type; Maserati 300S and A6GCS; among others.<\/p>\n

The final race of the 2016 Goodwood Members\u2019 Meeting race weekend was the Peter Collins Trophy, with Sam Hancock taking a decisive win in a 1953 Cunningham C4R over second placed Steve Boultbee-Brooks’ 1955 Aston Martin DB3S with Richard Woolmer’s 1954 HWM-Cadillac taking third.<\/p>\n
