{"id":495583,"date":"2016-06-15T10:46:22","date_gmt":"2016-06-15T17:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=31897"},"modified":"2024-12-06T03:44:24","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T03:44:24","slug":"first-aar-eagle-sold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/first-aar-eagle-sold\/","title":{"rendered":"The Very First AAR Eagle to Be Sold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The RM group of companies, RM Sotheby\u2019s and Auctions America, will handle the sale of 49 vehicles from the Riverside International Automotive Museum Collection, including the 1966 Eagle Indycar, chassis 201, that was the first Eagle racing car produced by Dan Gurney\u2019s All American Racers organization, and Gurney\u2019s personal ride for the 1966 Indianapolis 500 (above).<\/p>\n<p>Founded by racing enthusiasts Ray and Doug Magnon in 2006, the Riverside International Automotive Museum resulted from the passion and dedication of the father-son team. In addition, tying to the family\u2019s Italian roots, the museum featured one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Maserati road cars in the United States, including an example of every Maserati model available in the U.S. since 1951. However, in the aftermath of Doug\u2019s death last year, select vehicles from the museum will be made available at auction this summer.<\/p>\n<p>A group of 49 vehicles will be offered during the course of two different events, Auctions America\u2019s upcoming Santa Monica, California, sale, June 25-26, and RM Sotheby\u2019s flagship Monterey auction, August 19-20. Next week\u2019s Santa Monica sale will present 34 RIAM cars without reserve, including 14 Maseratis that range from a 1967 Mistral Coupe through models such as the Indy and Merak to a 90<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Spyder Cambiocorsa from 2005 and a 2006 Gran Sport Victory Cambiocorsa. Also being sold are a 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, a 2006 Ford GT and a 1994 Jaguar XJ220.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining 15 vehicles will cross the block in Monterey during Classic Car Week, headlined by the Eagle Indycar, but also including 11 Maseratis ranging from a rare example of the marque\u2019s first true production car, a 1951 A6G\/2000 Coupe bodied by Pinin Farina, to a 2005 Maserati MC12.
