{"id":495689,"date":"2016-07-27T12:17:13","date_gmt":"2016-07-27T19:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=33557"},"modified":"2024-12-02T20:47:46","modified_gmt":"2024-12-02T20:47:46","slug":"simeone-penske-tribute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/simeone-penske-tribute\/","title":{"rendered":"Simeone Penske Tribute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On August 6, 2016, the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia will host a tribute to Penske Racing with Karl Kainhofer and Gordon Kirby, author of the recently released Racemaker Press book <em>Penske\u2019s Maestro<\/em> about Kainhofer\u2019s time with the team, as well as many other members from the team\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>Kainhofer and Kirby will discuss his adventures, and his team members will join in to illuminate one of the most exciting eras of automobile racing in America. A book signing will follow the event, and attendees may also purchase commemorative posters for autographing. In addition to Kainhofer and Kirby, the following members of Penske Racing are also scheduled to attend: George Wintersteen, Don Cox, Woody Woodard, Leroy Gane, Chuck Cantwell, John Houp, Mark DeLong, Jay Signore. Chuck Sprague, Grant Newbury, Geoff Miller and Lew Davis.<\/p>\n<p>Also on hand will be one of the 1968 Sunoco Team Penske Trans-Am Camaros (above). This one, owned by Irwin Kroiz, was driven in period by both Mark Donohue and Sam Posey and features many of the trick features for which Penske Racing became famous.
