The second car to be displayed on VR<\/em>\u2019s NEC Classic Motor Show stand can now be revealed, it\u2019s the IMSA Jaguar XJR10. Resplendent in the white, green and red colors of Castrol, the 1990 contender will join the 1927 3-litre Invicta. Both designer Tony Southgate and driver Andy Wallace have been invited to join the VR<\/em> team on the stand \u2014 details of their appearance will be announced nearer the date. VR<\/em>\u2019s European Editor Mike Jiggle said, \u201cThe Jaguar marque has a tremendous history in sportscar racing from the early 1950s with \u2018Lofty\u2019 England through to the Tom Walkinshaw years. Many have seen examples of the Le Mans cars but, thanks to Phil Stott Motorsport, we\u2019re able to bring you the IMSA car \u2014 rarely seen in the UK. This week we\u2019ve completed the lineup of display vehicles, and in the coming weeks we\u2019ll reveal all. They\u2019re all stunning examples and, individually, meet the criteria of the show\u2019s theme: Heroes and Heroines of Road and Track.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another Jaguar on display at the NEC Classic Car Show will be Donald Campbell\u2019s Jaguar XK150. Practical Classics<\/em> magazine will showcase Campbell\u2019s 1958 Jag at the event \u2014 a car that Donald used daily while breaking numerous speed records on land and water. This contribution to the show\u2019s \u201cHeroes and Heroines\u201d theme comes almost exactly 50 years since Campbell\u2019s tragic death while trying to reach 300mph on water. The show falls on a weekend marking exactly five decades to the week since Donald first took Bluebird K7 out onto Lake Coniston for trials. Just under two months later he was killed when the jet boat flipped over.<\/p>\n

Practical Classics<\/em> recently reunited Donald Campbell\u2019s daughter Gina with his old XK150. She remembers him driving it. \u201cIt\u2019s such a beautiful car. And what a wonderful event for the car to be at.\u201d noted Gina, who added, \u201cI am always so humbled and flattered by the amount of energy and not inconsiderable expense people go to in order to perpetuate the memory of the Campbell name. It\u2019s so good of David (Stone, the current owner) to agree to show the car.\u201d<\/p>\n
