{"id":495790,"date":"2016-08-24T12:57:49","date_gmt":"2016-08-24T19:57:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=34881"},"modified":"2024-12-02T20:47:46","modified_gmt":"2024-12-02T20:47:46","slug":"best-best-talbot-petersen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/best-best-talbot-petersen\/","title":{"rendered":"Best of Best Talbot for Petersen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As noted each of the last two weeks, The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best award, celebrating automotive design and the art of restoration and preservation, brought together six winners from the world\u2019s top concours to determine the Best of the Best.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of that judging was a 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C SS \u201cGoutte d&#8217;Eau\u201d (chassis No. 90106) owned by Peter and Merle Mullin, an excellent example of both Art Deco styling and French technological innovation during the interwar period. It was originally purchased by Woolf Barnato, a financier and Le Mans-winning driver who went on to become the chairman of Bentley, and was later raced by America\u2019s first World Champion driver, Phil Hill.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To be honored with this award is wonderful. It absolutely justifies our commitment to sharing this wonderful car and others with the public,\u201d said Peter Mullin, who is chairman of the Petersen\u2019s board of directors of and founder and chairman of the Mullin Automotive Museum. \u201cThe list of judges for this award is filled with individuals I know and greatly respect and we couldn&#8217;t be happier that they selected our Talbot as the first winner of what is surely going to become one of the most coveted awards in Monterey.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The winning car will be on display in the Mullin Grand Salon at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles for the next 10 weeks.
