The 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C \u201cGoutte d\u2019Eau\u201d owned by Peter and Merle Mullin has won the inaugural Peninsula Classics Best of the Best award, which was presented in Carmel, California. The prize, judged by a panel of nearly two dozen notable experts from all aspects of the motoring industry, evaluated the Best of Show winners from six of the world\u2019s most prestigious Concours d\u2019Elegance to select the Best of the Best. This year that car is the Mullins\u2019 Talbot-Lago, which was recognized as such at the 14th annual The Quail, A\u00a0Motorsports Gathering.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The award is the creation of hotelier The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie and noted classic car authorities Christian Philippsen, William E. \u201cChip\u201d Connor and Bruce Meyer, who have been brought together by their appreciation for the restoration and preservation of fine motor vehicles.<\/p>\n

The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award will assemble the winners from England\u2019s Royal Concours of Elegance, the Pebble Beach Concours d\u2019Elegance, the Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance, Goodwood\u2019s Cartier Style et Luxe, the Cavallino Classic and The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, before selecting one of the six as Best of the Best.<\/p>\n

The other cars considered were a 1903 Mercedes 60HP Simplex from the Royal, a 1932 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A S Sport Cabriolet from Pebble Beach, a 1930 Cord L29 Brooks Stevens Speedster from Amelia Island, Mullin\u2019s 1937 Talbot-Lago T150C SS \u201cGoutte d\u2019Eau\u201d from Goodwood, a 1965 Ferrari 166 P \/ 206 SP Dino 0834 from the Cavallino Classic and a 1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale from The Quail.<\/p>\n

The group was evaluated and judged by a panel of nearly two dozen notable experts from all aspects of the motoring industry, with the final determination announced at a private dinner on the Tuesday evening before and the winning car then being recognized on stage at the 14th annual The Quail, A\u00a0Motorsports Gathering on Friday August 19.<\/p>\n
