As a pilot, he developed procedures to make air travel safer and as economical as possible for the airlines for which he flew. As a racecar driver, he has raced a variety of racecars such as Lolas, Ferraris, Porsches, Lotus Elans, Camaros and the inimitable Howmet turbine car with Dr. Dick Thompson and Bob Tullius. After leaving active racing he went on to construct the Palliser Formula B, Atlantic and Formula Ford cars, all of which won championships in England, the USA and South Africa.
