{"id":496179,"date":"2017-01-18T11:19:34","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T19:19:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=41289"},"modified":"2023-12-14T16:41:38","modified_gmt":"2023-12-14T16:41:38","slug":"new-spring-classic-mazda-raceway-laguna-seca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/new-spring-classic-mazda-raceway-laguna-seca\/","title":{"rendered":"New Spring Classic for Laguna Seca"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca has created a new vintage event for its 2017 calendar, the Spring Classic that will take place on the weekend of May 19-21 at the scenic Central California raceway.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day event will showcase racing by vintage racecars from several different eras, focusing on the \u201970s, \u201980s and \u201990s, with nine different race groups qualifying on Friday, May 19, and racing on Saturday, May 20, and Sunday, May 21.<\/p>\n<p>Those nine groups will include: 1967-1972 Formula B; 1973-1984 SCCA Production GT Cars; 1966-1972 Trans-Am; 1966-1974 Can-Am; 1973-1979 Formula Atlantic; 1966-1972 Trans-Am 2.5 Liter; 1983-2007 World Sports Car \u2013 Le Mans Prototypes; 1979-1994 Historic Stock Cars; and 1967-1984 Formula One (above). Historic motorcycles will also be making exhibition laps each day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdding the Spring Classic\u2026is a great way to celebrate 60 years of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca,\u201d said Gill Campbell, the raceway\u2019s CEO and general manager. \u201cThe response to vintage racing has sparked a demand by automobile enthusiasts all over the country. We are happy to be able to provide a showcase for racecars from those eras at the Spring Classic in addition to the earlier eras of automobile racing that are at the forefront of our Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Entry request forms are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.springclassic.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.springclassic.org<\/a>.
