The Vintage Sports Car Club has announced that \u201cFormula Vintage\u201d will be the new name for its racing program as it aims to introduce its unique lineup to a new and broader audience of enthusiasts.<\/p>\n
The VSCC began racing some 80 years ago, its very first race meeting taking place on July 10, 1937 at Donington Park, where it was also one of the last to hold an event prior to the outbreak of world war two years later. A decade later, the VSCC then held the first race meeting post-war, when it joined forces with the Cambridge University Automobile Club for an event at Gransden Lodge Aerodrome on July 13, 1947.<\/p>\n
For 2017, Formula Vintage will visit five famous British circuits, each meeting headlined by one of the Club\u2019s prestigious trophy collections celebrating British Racing legends of the Pre- and Post-war eras such as Mike Hawthorn and Richard Seaman.<\/p>\n
A regular program of six Pre-war and Historic trophy races will top the bill at each meeting, highlighting the very best of Pre-war racers and featuring Pre-1931 Vintage Racing Cars, Pre-1961 Racing Cars and road-going Pre-war Sports-Cars, as well as eclectic Pre-war lineups for the Club\u2019s popular All-Comers Scratch and Handicap formats.<\/p>\n
Each event features free spectator access to the Paddock, where fans can interact with the drivers and their historic machinery, and provide enjoyment for the whole family. The schedule of this year\u2019s Formula Vintage events follows:<\/p>\n
