Peter Darley served as Team Lotus\u2019 official photographer during the glory days of the \u201960s and \u201970s, and while his images may have enjoyed widespread dissemination in period, the black and white photographs in this book have gone previously unseen, being the kinds of photos that went beyond the reach of promotional usage, news or event reportage of the day.<\/p>\n

Consequently, that\u2019s exactly why readers of this magazine may end up spending hours appreciating the intimate exposures Darley was able to capture while thinking beyond the confines of his job.\u00a0Let\u2019s get to the point here; if you have any interest whatsoever in the European racing industry of the time, you must have this book. You will spend hours absorbing the stories embodied within each of its briefly captioned photos as Darley takes you everywhere in the pits and paddock\u2014but not far beyond.<\/p>\n

His subjects, the heroes of the age, are all here, caught often unawares, at other times posing readily, Jim Clark, John Surtees, Jackie Stewart, Dan Gurney, Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren, Jacky Ickx\u2014the list goes on and on.\u00a0The images come from Brands Hatch, Clermont-Ferrand, Crystal Palace, Goodwood, Jarama, Monte Carlo, Monza, Oulton Park, Silverstone and Snetterton, and the book\u2019s illuminative Foreword is penned by Lord March.<\/p>\n
