At last weekend\u2019s 15th<\/sup> Annual Palm Beach Auction in Florida, Barrett-Jackson totaled $20.5 million in sales and set 14 world records for collector car sales while enjoying an astonishing sell-through rate of 99.4 percent! The three-day event featured 498 collector cars crossing the auction block, while some 278 Automobilia lots sold for more than $450,000, a 28 percent increase over last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur 15th<\/sup> Annual Palm Beach Auction was an incredible follow-up to Scottsdale,\u201d said Craig Jackson<\/a>, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, \u201cand will help fuel an already banner auction season that kicked off in January. Each year our Palm Beach auction continues to grow and become the heart for the collector car community in South Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

The auction\u2019s top seller was a 2006 Ford GTX1, one of fewer than 200 produced, which sold for $401,500, while a 1969 Mustang Boss 429 (above, photo courtesy of Barrett-Jackson) took runner-up honors at $291,500, a price it shared with one of the coveted 23-window VW Microbuses. The fourth highest price was the $236,500 paid for a stunning 1962 Chevrolet Corvette LS3 Custom Convertible, and a rare, original \u201968 Ford Shelby GT500KR once owned by film star Lee Marvin gaveled for $220,000. One of the most popular cars was an ex-Dale Earnhardt 1989 Chevrolet Lumina racecar that also sold for $220,000.<\/p>\n

Barrett-Jackson achieved 14 new world sales records during the event, including a 1961 Volkswagen Deluxe Microbus that sold for $291,500 and a 1971 Chevrolet Custom K5 Blazer 4×4 that brought in $220,000. A pristine and heavily optioned original 1971 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible hammered for $176,000, while another fan favorite, a 1960 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, sold for $48,400.<\/p>\n

Five charity cars brought in a total of $515,000 (with an additional $10,000 donation by Michelle Mauzy and family), bringing Barrett-Jackson close to the $94 million mark in total funds raised for non-profits to date. A highlight was a \u201996 Ford Mustang built by students at the Jordan Vocational High School in Georgia. Entrepreneur and collector car magnate John Staluppi and his wife Jeanette purchased it for $50,000.<\/p>\n
