This year\u2019s event will feature Originals and Mid-Engine Marvels, along with traditional themes like: Pre-War Sports and Racing Cars; Post-War Racing Cars; Post-War Sports Cars; The Great Ferraris; Supercars; Sports and Racing Motorcycles; and Custom Coachwork.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering<\/em> continues to be the highlight of Monterey Car Week and certainly one of the most sensational events of the year. Thousands of motor vehicle enthusiasts, collectors, hobbyists and friends descend on Monterey to share their love and admiration for exquisite automobiles in an intimate garden party setting,\u201d said event co-founder, The Hon. Sir Michael Kadoorie, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. \u201cI continue to be impressed and amazed by the caliber of automobiles shown at the event, and even more so by those who dedicate so much time to restoring and preserving these fine works of art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 250 rare motor vehicles from private collections around the world will be on display, giving a special focus on sports and racing. Examples of exceptional driving machines showcased at the event include but are not limited to the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 1982 Lancia Model 307<\/strong> &#8211; This iconic mid-engine rally car was developed closely with Abarth and maintains its body shape from the Lancia Montecarlo, while also featuring a notable\u00a0design departure from the production car, with its transverse engine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 1938 Packard Model 1601<\/strong> \u2013 This car makes its way to The Quail from the famed Robert M. Lee Automobile Collection, and represents a styling shift for the model, having marked the first year a small chrome strip split the front windshield and ran onto the roof.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 1964 Alpine M64<\/strong> &#8211; Designed by Jean R\u00e9d\u00e9l\u00e9, who originally modified Renault 4CVs and later found success in many of the world\u2019s most illustrious sports car races, this car made its debut on the world stage at the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 2009 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante<\/strong> &#8211; This two-seat coup\u00e9 with front-central engine and transaxle drivetrain, shares the rolling chassis, drivetrain, and electronic system with the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. Inspired by the Touring-designed Alfa Romeo C52, the Disco Volante is considered a design icon, the limited series being made solely for discerning collectors, sporting drivers and design aficionados.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2022 1965 Ferrari 275 GTS<\/strong> &#8211; Near the top of every Ferrari enthusiast&#8217;s wish list, the 275 GTB is a remarkable example of Ferrari\u2019s blending of elegant design and power.
