{"id":496671,"date":"2017-06-14T13:12:29","date_gmt":"2017-06-14T20:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=46809"},"modified":"2023-12-21T03:04:24","modified_gmt":"2023-12-21T03:04:24","slug":"san-marino-motor-classic-recap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/san-marino-motor-classic-recap\/","title":{"rendered":"San Marino Motor Classic (2017) &#8211; Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2017 San Marino Motor Classic displayed more than 350 rare cars and welcomed 10,000 attendees to Lacy Park in the California foothills community June 11, crowning a 1938 Delahaye Model 135 Roadster by Chapron as Best of Show Pre-War, and an ultra-rare 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Alloy Body (above, photo courtesy of the San Marino Concours d\u2019Elegance) as Best of Show Post-War. The show raised more than $300,000 for the Pasadena Humane Society &amp; SPCA, the Rotary Club of San Marino and the USC Trojan Marching Band. To date, the event has raised $1.6 million for charity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe show has become a staple in Southern California,\u201d says Aaron Weiss, event chairman and co-founder. \u201cThis year\u2019s show offered the most diverse assemblage of concours-level vehicles in our seven-year history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 vehicles earned class honors and other special recognition awards at the event, which also included a new category for Japanese manufacturers. A 1967 Mazda R360 microcar won that class, which also included classics from Toyota, Datsun and Honda.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured a broad spectrum of collector cars, ranging from Brass and Nickel Era to American muscle, hot rods and everything in between. Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz were showcased alongside Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin and Rolls-Royce.<\/p>\n<p>Renowned collector David SK Lee displayed eight cars, including a McLaren P1 GTR and 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Competizione, which was named the Most Significant Ferrari at the show.<\/p>\n<p>The organizers of the San Marino Motor Classic have announced that the 2018 event will be held on June 10th.
