{"id":496861,"date":"2017-08-09T11:36:01","date_gmt":"2017-08-09T18:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=49516"},"modified":"2023-12-11T23:52:34","modified_gmt":"2023-12-11T23:52:34","slug":"60-years-laguna-seca-history-rolex-reunion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/60-years-laguna-seca-history-rolex-reunion\/","title":{"rendered":"Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion (2017) &#8211; 60 Years of Laguna Seca History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Attendees at next weekend\u2019s Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will be able to reflect upon 60 years of racing history at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca thanks to a special paddock display over the weekend of August 17-20. \u201cRacing Through the Decades\u201d will showcase a dozen prominent racing vehicles with triumphant history at the famed 2.238-mile Central California circuit.<\/p>\n<p>The display will also present a contrast between the track\u2019s first and most recent winners, the 1956 Ferrari 500 Testa Rossa with which Pete Lovely won the inaugural Laguna Seca event, the Pebble Beach Road Races of 1957, and the 2016 K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3 that Alvaro Parente used to claim the Pirelli World Challenge race last October.<\/p>\n<p>The other cars included in the exhibit are a 1956 Porsche 356A Carrera that competed in the last actual Pebble Beach race, a 1963 Shelby King Cobra, a 1971 Ford Mustang Boss 302, a 1973 Porsche 917\/30, a 1983 March 83C Indycar, a 1985 Porsche 962, a 1993 AAR Toyota Eagle GTP (above), a 1999 BMW V12 LMR and a 2005 Audi R8. Fans will also be able to enjoy the 1989 Yamaha YZR500 that Wayne Rainey rode to victory at the 1989 U.S. Grand Prix, the first of his three consecutive victories in Monterey.
