On the evening of Saturday, September 2, during Historic Festival 35 presented by the Prestige Family of Fine Cars, Connecticut\u2019s Lime Rock Park will host a party, the \u201c60 Year Celebration,” that will not only celebrate six decades of tradition, beauty and speed at the track, but also kick-off fundraising for the \u201cLegends of Lime Rock\u201d commemorative area in A Paddock.<\/p>\n
The celebration \u2014 cocktails, a sit-down, family style dinner, music, entertainment, auctions \u2014 will be highlighted by a special gathering of legends, people who are particularly important to Lime Rock\u2019s history and legacy.<\/p>\n
David Hobbs, PJ Jones, Sam Posey and Jim Haynes \u2014 all drivers at heart, of course, but each of whom became influential beyond the cockpit \u2014 will engage in a lively discussion about the history of the sport and Lime Rock Park. Expect invigorating repartee among these racing icons. In addition, Historic Festival 35 Honored Guest Richard Attwood and Honored Collector Bruce Meyer will be in attendance.<\/p>\n
Then on Sunday, when the track is traditionally silent, Historic Festival 35 will celebrate Ferrari\u2019s 70th<\/sup> anniversary by turning its attention to the Sunday in the Park Concours d\u2019Elegance and Gathering of the Marques. The concours will showcase exquisite examples of prancing horsepower, headlined by a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione Speciale \u00a0from the \u201cTifosi Fantasy\u201d featured class display. The one-off alloy-bodied Pininfarina \u201caerodynamico\u201d coupe, s\/n 2429GT, built on a 250 short wheelbase chassis in the rare Comp61 specification, was special ordered from Ferrari by Maitre Paul Villard, a close friend of Enzo Ferrari, and the Paris attorney who represented the early 1960s French Ferrari agent Franco-Brittanic Automobiles. The car\u2019s styling is based on the Ferrari Pininfarina 1960 Turin Show car.<\/p>\n
