RM Sotheby\u2019s 11th<\/sup> annual auction at Battersea Evolution in London generated \u00a37,064,475 (US$9,308,461) in total sales with many of the top cars falling into the \u201cmodern classics\u201d category.<\/p>\n

Top lot of the night was a Tour de France blue 2004 Ferrari Enzo, the iconic hypercar of its era, and highly sought after by collectors. With only 8,884 kilometers on its clock and boasting a full dealer service history from new, the car sold for \u00a31,805,000 (US$2,377,986).<\/p>\n

A luxury car from an earlier era, a silver 1955 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback Sports Saloon (above, Tim Scott Fluid Images photo courtesy of RM Sotheby\u2019s), hammered for an impressive \u00a3826,250 (US$1,088,414). The car is a former Bentley Drivers Club Concours Best in Class winner that was previously owned by former Aston Martin Chairman Victor Gauntlett.<\/p>\n

Rare Porsches featured and sold very well, reflecting a current market trend, and providing the third-highest seller, a meticulously maintained 1996 911 GT2 with just 18,000 kilometers on its odometer, one of just 161 road-going 993 GT2s. It elicited a final price of \u00a3775,625 (US$1,021,571).<\/p>\n

Other noteworthy sales included a 1971 Porsche 911 E delivered new to Kremer racing driver John Fitzpatrick that was being offered for sale for the first time since 1972. The Conda Green RHD example remains in remarkable original condition, and was driven onto the block by none other than John Fitzpatrick himself. The lucky new owner secured the car for \u00a3126,500 (US$166,644). The Top Five sales are listed below.<\/p>\n
