The Vintage Sports Car Drivers Association held its annual Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival at Road America on the weekend of September 16-17, with a full slate of 10 Group Races for cars in 46 classes. Included in that schedule was the latest stop on Formula Junior\u2019s Diamond Jubilee World Tour, with overall victory in Sunday\u2019s Group 11 feature race going to FJ1 winner Australian Martin Bullock (1963 Lotus 27), with class wins taken by Britons Chris Drake (1961 Elva 300) in FJ2, and Ray Mallock (1960 Mallock U2) in FJ3, while Minnesotan John Hertsgaard (1960 Formula Junior Special) prevailed in FJX.<\/p>\n
Other noteworthy performances were turned in by Geoff Brabham, who won Group 4B with his 1971 Brabham BT35, Road America president George Bruggenthies, who topped Group 7A with his Surtees TS8-Chevrolet, Jacques Dresang, the Group 4CF winner with his 1977 Eagle DGF Formula Ford, and local driver Jeffrey Miller, a multiple SCCA National Champion, who won Group 5B with his Kohler-powered Lola T496.<\/p>\n
The weekend\u2019s only double winners were Fritz Seidel, who topped Group 5S2 with his 2004 Carbir CS2 and Group 8B with his 1967 Porsche 911S, and Steve Grundahl who took Group 7C honors with his 2001 Mygale SJ01 and claimed the Group 8A laurels with his 1971 Porsche 911RS.
