{"id":497047,"date":"2017-10-18T11:06:38","date_gmt":"2017-10-18T18:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=52218"},"modified":"2024-12-03T02:24:38","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T02:24:38","slug":"vscc-hosts-welsh-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/vscc-hosts-welsh-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"VSCC Welsh Weekend (2017) &#8211; Recap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some 152 members of the Vintage Sports Car Club took their cherished motorcars to Presteigne in Wales (above, Andrew Wright photo) over the weekend of October 7-8 for a historic Rally and two-day Vintage Trial. On the Saturday a fine array of 39 Pre-war cars entered the Scatter Rally, and at the end of a fun day set in some fantastic scenery a total of 13 awards were presented. In the main class for VSCC-registered cars there was a four-way tie with the crews all excelling on maximum points, but in the invited class the clear winners were Douglas and Ruth Martin in their 1934 Lancia Augusta.<\/p>\n<p>On both Saturday and Sunday some 113 Vintage cars ventured out from the Radnorshire Arms to compete on the Trial with the autumn sunshine a perfect backdrop over a challenging weekend of motorsport. There were 18 demanding \u2014 and sometime frustrating \u2014 sections to test the skills of the competitors and the resilience of their cars. The highest score, and winner of the Harry Bowler Memorial trophy, was a triumphant Simon Price in his 1930 Model A Ford Special.<\/p>\n<p>There were many class awards to recognize notable achievements across the capacity entry. A very successful weekend in the best traditions of the VSCC would not have been possible without Tom Pellow masterminding the Rally and Paul Tebbett leading his team of local organizers in the mammoth task of setting out all of the hills for the Trial. It all augers well for the Club\u2019s next Trial \u2014 the immortal Lakeland on November 11.
