{"id":497140,"date":"2017-11-22T10:48:54","date_gmt":"2017-11-22T18:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=53157"},"modified":"2024-12-06T03:47:33","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T03:47:33","slug":"yunick-indycars-set-scottsdale-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/yunick-indycars-set-scottsdale-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Yunick Indycars Set For Scottsdale Sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two black and gold Indycars campaigned by the legendary Smokey Yunick will be crossing the auction block this coming January 17 at Worldwide Auctioneers\u2019 Scottsdale sale at the Scottsdale Auto Park on McDowell Road.<\/p>\n<p>The first is the 1969 All American Racers Eagle Mk7 Santa Ana, chassis number 69-703 (above, photo courtesy of Worldwide Auctioneers), driven by Joe Leonard to a 6<sup>th<\/sup>-place finish in the \u201969 500 behind winner Mario Andretti. The Eagle, the only customer Indycar produced by AAR that year, is the third of four examples of the Mark 7 Santa Ana built, and is powered by a turbocharged Ford Indy V8. The car was kept by Yunick for more than 30 years, and was restored during the early 2000s. Its appearances since then include a run up the Goodwood hill during the 2008 Festival of Speed.<\/p>\n<p>The second is a 1957 Kurtis Kraft-Offy roadster, chassis number KK500G2, that was entered as the McNamara Spl. by Kalamazoo Sports for Andy Linden in 1957, who drove it to a 5<sup>th<\/sup>-place finish in the 500. The following year, the first time Yunick entered a car for the Memorial Day Classic, the car wore the classic black and gold livery in which it exists today and was driven by Paul Goldsmith, but got caught up in the massive 15-car accident in the third turn on the opening lap and taken out of the race.
