{"id":497290,"date":"2018-01-24T10:48:54","date_gmt":"2018-01-24T18:48:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportscardigest.com\/\/?p=54742"},"modified":"2024-12-09T14:57:19","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T14:57:19","slug":"porsche-964-collection-rm-amelia-island-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.supercars.net\/blog\/porsche-964-collection-rm-amelia-island-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"RM Auctions Amelia Island (2018) &#8211; Porsche 964 Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RM Sotheby\u2019s will present the world\u2019s most extensive and exclusive collection of limited-production Porsche 911 Type 964 variants when the company returns to Florida as the official auction house of the Amelia Island Concours d\u2019Elegance, March 10.<\/p>\n<p>Aptly named \u201cExclusively Porsche \u2013 The 964 Collection,\u201d the group of 11 Type 964s (and one 930) was assembled by a single collector, an avid Porsche enthusiast, and comprises the last of the truly hand-built Porsches, yet the first production models with coilover suspensions, power steering, and ABS brakes. The collector also sought out the finest examples of all the 964 \u201cspecials\u201d \u2014 high-performance cars either built or modified in limited quantities by Porsche\u2019s Exclusive department.<\/p>\n<p>The collection is led by an essentially brand-new, never raced 1993 Carrera RSR 3.8, finished in very rare paint-to-sample Ferrari Yellow. One of just 45 built, its odometer shows a mere 765 kilometers. There\u2019s also a one-of-55 1993 Carrera RS 3.8, in mint condition with less than 7,000 kilometers, and a pair of very rare \u201cflat nose\u201d variants, the Turbo S X83 \u201cFlachbau,\u201d one of just 10 ever built, and a U.S.-production Turbo S X85 \u201cFlachbau,\u201d one of just 39.<\/p>\n<p>The collection also includes a 1991 Carrera Cup model and the following cars all being sold without reserve: a 1994 Turbo 3.6; a 1994 Speedster; a 1991 Turbo 3.3; a 1992 Carrera RS; a 1989 Turbo \u201cFlat Nose\u201d Coupe; and a 1993 Carrera RS America.<\/p>\n<p>RM Sotheby\u2019s 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary Amelia Island sale will present approximately 100 of the most sought-after automobiles at the Ritz-Carlton on March 10, ranging from coachbuilt classics to sports and racing rarities and late model collectibles.
