My youngest daughter just got her learner\u2019s permit. There\u2019s something about seeing your youngest, behind the wheel, that is kind of bittersweet. After 15 and one-half years of me driving her around, she\u2019s now eager to get behind the wheel and relegate me to the passenger seat\u2026anxiously stomping away at an imaginary brake pedal that doesn\u2019t exist.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thought it seems like eons ago, I can still remember going to the DMV, taking my written test and getting my permit. It was heady stuff for a car crazy kid and very empowering. It was a right of passage and I felt, if not more adult, than at least more adult-adjacent as a result. Despite all the current discussion that kids today are not interested in driving, if my daughter is any indication, getting your license is still a big deal.
