Mecum Auctions is returning to Houston\u2019s NRG Center this weekend, April 5-7, for Mecum Houston 2018, with approximately 1,000 American muscle cars, Corvettes, classics, Hot Rods, Resto Mods and more set to cross the auction block.<\/p>\n

Among the most notable consignments are: a 1970 Plymouth Superbird<\/a> (above, Andrew Thompson photo courtesy of Mecum Auctions) with the original A833 4-speed transmission that is one of just 308 produced; a virtually untouched 2005 Ford GT<\/a> with just 2.6 miles; a 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback<\/a> featuring a matching-numbers 428 cubic-inch engine; and a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429<\/a>, Kar Kraft No. 1390, that is one of only 279 equipped with the rare 820-S NASCAR solid-lifter engine.<\/p>\n

The auction will also highlight two private collection offerings. On Friday, April 6, an investment-grade Viper Collection<\/a> will offer bidders a chance at nine of Dodge\u2019s V10-equipped supercars, ranging from a first-year 1992 Dodge Viper RT\/10 Roadster<\/a> with just 5,780 original miles, to a 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 VCA Edition<\/a> that is No. 41 of just 50 produced that year. The other private assemblage headlining Mecum Houston 2018 is The Rick Smith Collection<\/a> that will be offered at no reserve. It will be the first group of vehicles to cross the auction block on Saturday, April 7. The 60-vehicle collection from the late Rick Smith includes an array of customized American muscle cars, Street Rods, trucks and six Boss Hoss motorcycles. Also included are: a 1953 Buick Skylark Custom Convertible<\/a> with a gunmetal finish and fuel-injected 572\/625 HP V8 engine; a custom 1967 Ford Mustang Pro Street<\/a> with a blown 541 cubic-inch V8 and Shelby GT500 styling; a turquoise 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible<\/a> with matching turquoise and silver interior; and a 1971 Plymouth Cuda Convertible<\/a> with a 426 cubic-inch Hemi engine.<\/p>\n
