The Historic Racing Drivers Club (HRDC) has announced plans for an important invitation race for Classic & Historic Alfa Romeos at Donington Park on October 14 .<\/p>\n

The ethos behind this accessible invitation race is to promote a possible Series in 2019, which will champion close racing within a proper historic format for classic Alfa Romeo models from three evocative decades: the 1950s, the 1960s and the 1970s.<\/p>\n

The series is open to all Alfa Romeo 750, 101, 105 & 116-series cars, which will encompass anything from an early Giulietta Berlina to a four-cylinder Alfetta GTV or an AlfaSud, competing alongside the more familiar Bertone GT coupes in all racing variants.<\/p>\n

Well-considered class structures will ensure close racing, providing a competitive format for competitors and a thrilling spectacle for enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

HRDC race events have built up an enviable reputation among competitors as accessible and friendly forums for safe but close racing, which are as much about socializing off track as having a good dice on the circuit.<\/p>\n

In order to kick-off this exciting Series, the HRDC will be running a 30-minute race at Donington on October 14. This inaugural race will be by invitation only and will be staged as a scratch race, with classes for production-specification, track modified and full racecars.<\/p>\n

Being a life-long Alfa enthusiast and racer, HRDC founder and Race Director Julius Thurgood holds this concept very close to his heart and so has brought in support from his friend and colleague Richard Norris and the team at Classic Alfa in getting this exciting venture onto the tracks!<\/p>\n

To date, the response has been enthusiastic, with some 20+ great cars pledged to support the Donington race in October.<\/p>\n
