Fair disclosure\u2014I\u2019ve wanted to write about this car for years. The Ford GT appeared, in 2005, as a production offering from what was still a very conservative company. At that time, the world had yet to be inundated by smart phones, there was no Alexa, no Siri, no Uber and driving a car was still considered a big part of the human lexicon of personal enjoyment. The Ford GT was expensive, but it wasn\u2019t outrageously so. And while certainly not affordable to me, or my car buddies, it was well within the realm of possibility in the future as the rush to buy new slowly wore off and production ceased in 2006. With only 4,038 units built, the Ford GT was rare, but not impossibly so, thus insulating it from crazy price increases as time wore on. After the Great Recession, prices dropped to where you could buy a basic one for about $125,000.00. And while most of us would still consider that a huge amount of money to spend on a car, I considered it a bargain.<\/p>\n
