The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum has announced that Roger Penske will be the 11th recipient of the Spirit of Competition award. The Spirit of Competition represents the most prestigious award conferred by the Foundation.\u00a0Each year a distinguished figure from motorsports who has a specific inspirational message is selected.<\/p>\n

Roger Penske is one of the most successful car and track owners in the history of motorsports. Starting his way as a driver in the SCCA, Penske found early success becoming the only driver to with the SCCA President\u2019s Cup three times, with victories in 1960, 1962, and 1963. During this time, Penske would go on to win four consecutive SCCA National Championships from 1960-1963 and capture the Sports Illustrated Driver of the Year award in 1961. After retiring as a driver, Penske established his own racing team which found both immediate and long-term success over its fifty plus years with a multitude of wins in Indycar, NASCAR, and Sports Car championships. Throughout his distinguished career, Roger is credited with being part of nearly 500 wins in the sport of racing. We are honored to award this year’s\u00a0“Spirit of Competition” to a recipient that has given so much of his life to the sport. Roger Penske reflects the true epitome for which the award was named.<\/p>\n
