\"\"<\/a>Porsche 908\/2 was campaigned as a factory entry in the 1969 24 Hours of Daytona, before being sold to Steve McQueen’s Solar Productions as a rebodied Spyder. McQueen famously raced the car himself at Riverside, Phoenix and Sebring, in 1970, coming tantalizingly close to winning the 12-Hour Florida classic.<\/p>\n

For the filming of McQueen’s “Le Mans”, 908\/2 was entered in the 1970 24-Hour race, with a specially mounted nose camera, to be driven by Jonathon Williams and Herbert Linge. Despite being focused on filming, and having to make numerous stops to change the film in the camera, the duo would go on to finish in the equivalent of 9th place overall, on laps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
