A 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster was awarded Rolex Circle of Champions \u201cBest of Show\u201d out of more than 200 entrants at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering<\/em>. Automotive industry leaders, motorsports legends, celebrities and a wide variety of automotive enthusiasts, assembled on the scenic fairways of Quail Lodge & Golf Club for the show\u2019s culminating awards ceremony.<\/p>\n

ROLEX BEST OF SHOW – 1938 MERCEDES-BENZ 540K SPECIAL ROADSTER – K HEINZ KELLER<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The vehicle owned by K. Heinz Keller from California was selected for its design, engineering, sophistication and presentation. Keller acquired the car in 1986 from a private owner in Colorado, and the vehicle underwent an eight-year ground-up restoration.<\/p>\n

In addition to \u201cBest of Show\u201d and the top honors given in each of the 11 classes, the following special awards were announced:<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event was headlined by three featured classes. The first of these, \u201c50th Anniversary of the Alfa Romeo Montreal,\u201d paid tribute to one of the most unique sports coup\u00e9s of the 1970s. The second featured class, \u201cAutomotive Couture, French Cars Featuring the 50th Anniversary of the Citro\u00ebn SM,\u201d celebrated a historic milestone with several examples of the SM and other stylish French vehicles such as a 1965 Matra Bonnet Djet VS. Additionally, \u201cCars of Curiosity\u201d showcased unique vehicles including a 1957 Fiat 600 \/ Eden Roc and a 1978 Lamborghini Urraco P2000.<\/p>\n

Guests enjoyed an in-depth discussion with Formula World Champion Jenson Button during the Fireside Chat which took place on the event\u2019s main stage. Annis is the Founder and Editor of Vintage Racecar\/Vintage Roadcar magazine, the Petersen Museum\u2019s Finish Line and Petersen Quarterly, Alfa Owner, and The Oily Rag magazines. He founded Parabolica Publishing in 1997 after a career in biology, anatomy and neurobiology. Along with this passion for automobiles Casey is a long distance open-ocean paddleboard racer who\u2019s competed in the 32-mile Catalina to Manhattan Beach race and the 32-mile Molokai to Oahu race.
