While every family has a legacy of sorts, there\u2019s only one that can boast the roots of Porsche motorsports in North America AND opening the very first exclusive Porsche dealership in North America.\u00a0 Vasek Polak, <\/strong>racecar driver, car collector, racing team owner and renowned car dealer was the master mechanic behind famed motorsports legends from Jack McAfee, George Follmer and Hurley Haywood to Jerry Titus, Milt Minter and more.\u00a0 With a forthcoming new tabletop book anticipated for 2022, the Vasek Polak Collection now comes alive to share memorabilia and nostalgic items to relive the magic of Vasek Polak racing past from the early days of the famed #88 Spyder to the numerous 917s and campaigned Porsche 934 and 935 models.<\/p>\n

According to Maurie Polak, co-founder of the Vasek Polak Collection, www.vasekpolak.com<\/a> , her grandfather Vasek Polak\u2019s storied past in Porsche and motorsports began in the late 1950s when he started his own repair shop in Manhattan Beach, Calif., which in 1959 expanded into the first stand-alone Porsche dealership in the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cVasek Polak is a great example of living the \u2018California Dream,\u2019 said Maurie.\u00a0 \u201cWhere else could a successful Czechoslovakian machine shop owner and mechanic create the perfect trifecta of Porsche love and recognition \u2013 from crewing for top tier racing teams to establishing the benchmark for the Porsche marque in motorsport performance \u2013 all feeding off his motorsport success.\u201d\u00a0 Vasek Polak earned his wings with Jack McAfee\u2019s #88 Spyder and later grew into preparing sportscars that included the first major championship victory for the Porsche 911 as well as 917s that went on to compete in Can-Am series into the 1970s.<\/p>\n

While the storefront in California became an iconic landmark for the car world, it also fostered the growing interest of race enthusiasts and became one of the most, if not THE, highest regarded race prep shop within the motorsport community \u2013 earning national and global respect.<\/p>\n
