Top flight historic motorsport is coming to the UK’s Snetterton race circuit on the 16th \u2013 17th of July for the Motor Racing Legends Snetterton Historic 200 meeting.\u00a0 An action-packed program of races over the weekend will see an incredible variety of historic machinery hit the track, from Pre-War Sports Cars and Fifties Sports Cars, to Sixties GTs, Ford GT40s and historic Touring Cars from the \u201860s, \u201870s and \u201880s.<\/p>\n

As one of the highlights of the event, Motor Racing Legends has announced that the coveted St John Horsfall Trophy for 1\u00bd and 2 litre Aston Martins will be running within the Pre-War Sports Cars race at the new event. The trophy, in the custodianship of the Aston Martin Owners Club, commemorates legendary driver St. John \u2018Jock\u2019 Horsfall.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A well-known competitor on the European racing scene during the 1930s, he was famous for his exploits in his own Aston Martin 2 litre Speed Model in such races as Le Mans, the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy and the Leinster Trophy Race in Ireland.<\/p>\n

\u2018Jock\u2019 famously single-handedly drove the 1949 Spa-Francorchamps 24 hour Race in his Aston Martin finishing second to a works Ferrari. He was tragically killed later that year behind the wheel. Created in his honour, the Aston Martin Owners Club have been awarding the St John Horsfall Trophy since 1950.<\/p>\n

The Motor Racing Legends Pre-War Sports Car race will run for 45-minutes. It is for one or two drivers, with mandatory pit stop and is open to all marques of Pre-War Sports-Car. The St John Horsfall Trophy is a very exciting addition to the grid and will bring a number of important pre-War Aston Martins to the event.<\/p>\n
